Michelangelo Winklaar (1983) is a designer that focuses on the individual who has a penchant for pure materials, structure, nuances, shape and an eye for detail for their own individuality.

Coming out of a tailor family he learned to make something out of anything.
Brought up in the Netherlands Michelangelo Winklaar started mixing his "dauntless" style of fashion and love for the womans silhouette with the european snits. At the age of nine years Michelangelo Winklaar sew dresses by hand for his mother and sister.

"The greatest mannequine you could ever have is one that moves, because the movement of a dress defines your style".

Growing up as a teenager Michelangelo Winklaar designed costumes for the Summercarnival, gowns for Queen elections and was named as teenager of the year.
During the Modelyceum in Hilversum Michelangelo Winklaar designed Couture dresses for ABN AMRO, Berget Lewis and won the MAFB young designer award, with his Avante-Garde collection Birds of Paradise.
After the Modelyceum Michelangelo Winklaar started at the Art Academy Artez, but missed his freedom and decides to share his believes as an autodidact in the fashion industry.

"The craft of creating, along with refined old-school crafts, inspires me to new forms and designs ' .

In 2013 Michelangelo Winklaar debuted on the Amsterdam Fashion Week presenting a surreal collection called "Independentia".
This collection was also shown at "Facing up to the past" in collaboration with the Prince Claus Fund.

All garments are carefully molded, draped and created by hand in Michelangelo Winklaar studio in the Hague.
