Klompenfabriek Nijhuis is a company of extremes. It started in 1938 as a small wooden shoe maker in the back corners of Beltrum. Wooden shoes were carved by hand. It took 3 hours of hard work to make a single pair of wooden shoes. In 1980 when most wooden shoe makers put their tools out to pasture, Paul Nijhuis decided to build a super-modern wooden shoe factory.
