Antoine Peters was born in Vorden at the country side of the Netherlands. He graduated cum laude at the Art Academy in Arnhem as well at the mastercourse Fashion Institute Arnhem. Antoine has working experience at Viktor & Rolf and the dutch Avantgarde magazine. Now the fanatic soccerplayer is living and working in Amsterdam.
Antoine Peters gained his first reputation for his 'A sweater for the world!' project, a 2-person sweater with the goal to photograph as many ‘different kind of people’ as possible inside it. In the meantime Peters gathered even more reputation with his pop-culture inspired designs presented during Amsterdam Fashion Week.
Antoine Peters drew attention of the international press and is called 'one of Holland's most promising designers' by the renowned WGSN.com and I-D and noticed by Vogue Italy, Dazed, A Shaded View On Fashion, Style Bubble and many more. He proudly is covered as one of the world's hundred most innovative young designers in the '100 new fashion designers' book by Hywel Davies. And his work is used in books such as Fabric for Fashion by Clive Hallet, Textiles and Fashion by Jenny Udale and Graphics in Fashion by Jay Hes.
The Antoine Peters universe is a search for the quirky. The concepts generally are based on undermining and commenting negativity. More serious matter is brought in a light manner, with the arising of a new unbiased perspective as a result. The work brings airyness by means of concept, but also literally in the clothing and installations itself. Antoine loves to play with extremes and proportions in material, print, silhouette and concept.
Antoine Peters is about optimism, playfulness and a renewing form of elegance which he calls 'One-size-fits-all-elegance'. Bringing together the best of both worlds: A casual feel captured within a sophisticated look. ANTOINE PETERS wants to spread a little smile.
Antoine Peters also initiates and participates in projects like the concept direction and design for dance performances, movies and popvideo's. He is guest teacher at the Arnhem Academy of Art and Design and gives workshops and presentations at a diverse range of institutes. He proudly designed the volunteer costumes for the Arnhem Fashion Biennial 2009 and collaborated with iconic brands like Marcel Wanders' Moooi, United Nude, Quinze & Milan, Film Festival Rotterdam, Effio, Eastpak and Gsus Sindustries. |
